Frequently asked questions
Everything people usually ask us before they enquire.
Money and terms
Do you charge a commission?
No commission on bed spaces or partitions. For private rooms and studios, any fee is stated in writing before you commit.
How much is the deposit?
Typically one month's rent, refundable at the end of your notice period if the room is left in the same condition.
Does 'bills included' cover the chiller?
On our listings, 'bills included' means DEWA, chiller and internet unless the listing says otherwise. Always confirm at the viewing.
Can I pay monthly?
Yes. All the shared accommodation we list is paid monthly, not with post-dated annual cheques.
Rooms and living
What is the difference between a bed space and a partition?
A bed space is one bed in a shared room. A partition is a section of a room divided by a solid wall, usually with its own door and much more privacy.
Are the rooms mixed gender?
Each listing shows a gender preference: Any, Male, Female or Family. We do not place people into rooms against the building's rules.
Can I cook in the apartment?
Most listings include a shared kitchen. Where cooking is restricted, it is written in the listing description.
Can I have guests?
That depends on the building. Ask at the viewing and get the answer in writing before you pay.
Viewings and paperwork
Do I have to pay before viewing?
Never. If anyone asks you to transfer money to hold a bed space before you have seen it, do not pay.
Why do some listings have no permit number?
We only print an advertising permit number when the owner has given us one. We leave the field blank rather than filling it with something invented.
